The AA wins the 2024 IVECO Daily Mission Awards with powerhouse eLCV

The IVECO Daily Mission Awards recognises and celebrates operators that use the IVECO Daily to its fullest potential to complete the most challenging missions. The foundation for these awards is forged in four categories: Construction & Utilities, Grounds Maintenance & Forestry, Specialist Vehicles, and Delivery. A trio of special awards further celebrate the IVECO Daily’s diversity.

Broadcaster and journalist Laura Winter hosted the awards, alongside special guests two-time Britian’s Strongest Man Adam Bishop, and British Olympics icon Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards.

 

2024 IVECO Daily Mission Award Winners:

Q1 – Construction & Utilities – O’Connor Utilities

Manchester-based utility and civil engineering partners O’Connor Utilities mission supports the power, water, rail, and telecoms sectors. Their needs are met perfectly with its fleet of 30 IVECO Daily panel vans, supplied by Northern Commercials. Decked out with reinforced wall and floor coverings, a bespoke Vanliners Ltd cargo area and safety elements, as well as the IVECO Daily’s class leading 3.5-tonne towing capacity, these vehicles never fall short of their demanding requirements.

 

Q2 – Grounds Maintenance & Forestry – Down To Earth Trees

Years of experience in arboriculture enabled Down To Earth Trees to have a clear vision for the vehicles it needs – and the IVECO Daily, along with its trademark ladder chassis, and a bespoke body build by Southern Vehicle Bodies, was the right tool for the job. Combining a 3.0-litre engine with a manual gearbox, durable clutch, eco-tyres, and a 2XL Repair and Maintenance contract from IVECO and Northern Commercials, Down To Earth Trees keeps its vehicle’s running costs predictable and affordable. Additionally, completing any maintenance outside of regular working hours mean these Dailys can be on-site every hour the company is open.

 

Q3 – Specialist Vehicle – The AA

Unfortunately, all vehicles need help from time to time, which is where the AA come into this year’s shortlist. Its impressive 4.25-tonne IVECO eDaily CRT van is an all-electric Swiss Army Knife, capable of recovering vehicles and comfortably accommodating customers while they wait. Supplied by Northern Commercials, the Victory Conversions body equips this eDaily to recover everything from motorbikes to 4x4s, the IVECO eDaily boasts an impressive 3,250kg towing capacity. It’s paired with The AA’s advanced Freewheeling Hubs for enhanced performance. Plus, the vehicle features secure, lockable storage for tools, fire-fighting gear, and first aid supplies, ensuring mission readiness.

 

Q4 – Delivery – Collins Seafood

Collins Seafood helps keep the nations chippies stocked with fresh fish, and its fleet of 14 7.2-tonne IVECO Daily freezer box vans are integral to the 30,000 mile-per-year mission. With driver comfort in mind, IVECO’s Winter Pack provides a heated windscreen, night heater, automatic wipers and headlight controls, as well as safety features like Traction Plus, Hill Descent, Crosswind Assist, and a Tyre Pressure Warning System, to cope with every condition UK roads throw at them. Supplied by North East Truck & Van, with a box freezer built by Solomon Commercials, these Daily keep goods cold and fresh from the first to last mile of the journey.

 

Livery of the Year – Collins Seafood

Another award win for Collins Seafood saw it net ‘Livery of the Year’ with Mission Award audience members voting for the eye-catching Daily box van. It’s deep shade of blue and seafaring graphics captivated the room, making for a popular winner.

 

Bodybuilder of the Year – Bloomfields Horseboxes

Founded in 2005 when Dean Moody built a horsebox at his parents’ home, Bloomfields has bloomed into a globally recognised brand – and in 2023, completed its first build on an IVECO Daily. Utilising a 7.2t 5100 wheelbase Daily, Bloomfields was able to maintain a market-leading payload whilst offering a bespoke and luxury build for customers. The 8 speed Hi-Matic gearbox’s smooth changes offer a seamless journey for two and four-legged passengers alike, with room for either three ponies or two horses.

 

eDaily Innovation – Torton Bodies

Torton Bodies has nearly 80 years of experience in creating mobile exhibitions, libraries, clinics, and more. This year, Torton has flexed its expertise and creativity by building a fully electric IVECO eDaily mobile library. The 7.2t 4750 wheelbase eDaily features three batteries, for a perfect mix of range and payload. A class-leading tuning circle allows for easy manoeuvrability in urban areas.

 

Overall IVECO Daily Mission Award 2024 – The AA

This year’s overall IVECO Daily Mission Award winner for 2024 is The AA. The innovative IVECO eDaily conversion maximises the potential of every aspect of eDaily DNA. Utilising the truck-based ladder chassis and class-leading towing capabilities make it the perfect choice for a zero-emission recovery vehicle. With bespoke storage for tools and safety equipment, and a comfortable cab for crew and stranded drivers, this IVECO eDaily shines as a beacon for what is possible for an eLCV.
