New Municipal Vehicles Sales Manager

Guest and Sherwood has appointed a new Municipal, Specialist Vehicle & Emergency Services Sales Manager.

Shaun Taylor joined the company in October and brings more than 28 years of truck sales experience to the job, meaning customers can rest assured they’re in safe hands when it comes to finding the right vehicle for their requirements.

“I’ve worked in truck sales for most of my life and for the past 12 years I’ve specialised in selling municipal vehicles,” said Shaun.

Shaun continued: “We offer such a broad range of products, it’s really important for us to understand the customer’s needs. For example, different local authorities require different vehicles. Cities like Birmingham have to think about low emission zones whereas councils outside of cities don’t have to worry about that yet.

“In my job you have to be familiar with every aspect of the product you’re selling to be able to identify what will work best for the customer. It’s a big investment so they need to be sure they are getting the right vehicle for the job.”

IVECO offers a full range of ultra low emission vehicles suitable for any purpose but specifically municipal and emergency service use in city centres, where low emission zones are planned.

“Smaller gas-powered vehicles under 18 tonnes tend to be the most suitable for municipal vehicles where low emissions are required, especially if they’re being used a night, as they are much quieter,” explained Shaun.

IVECO also has zero emission electric vehicles available in the 3.5 to 7.2 tonne weight sectors.

Meanwhile, the IVECO Hi-SCR technology offers a cost-effective solution to heavy-duty Euro VI diesel engines as there is no exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). It is the only emission control system that does not alter the combustion process because it works through a clean air intake and the combustion temperature can remain high, so there is no need to cool down exhaust gases. In turn this means less energy is lost and there is a reduction in fuel consumption.

“The IVECO Hi-SCR technology is perfect for refuse lorries and similar services because they do not have to stop to regenerate the diesel particulate filter (DPF) whilst on a job - so customers can save time and money,” said Shaun.

“Here at Guest we are the IVECO and Fiat Professional specialists which means we offer the  complete range from 1.6 to 44 tonnes. Not only that, we also offer excellent aftercare service backed by our own in-house fleet management company - ‘Sentinel Fleet Management’.”
