IVECO celebrates highly versatile Daily and broad customer missions at the second annual Daily Mission Awards

Over the past 12 months the Daily Mission Awards have been putting the spotlight on operators and their innovative applications for the IVECO Daily. This year’s categories of Construction and Utility, Grounds Maintenance and Forestry, Passenger Transport and Lifestyle, as well as Delivery were hotly contested.

The impressive entrants that made the shortlists enjoyed a glamourous awards evening with the winner of each category presented with a trophy by broadcaster and sports journalist Laura Winter.

A selection of judges spanning all sectors of the industry gathered each quarter to deliberate and agree upon a shortlist, with finalists going forward to the awards evening.

The Construction and Utility award was won by ND Brown’s fleet of 80 IVECO Dailys, nominated by Sherwood Truck & Van. They ultimately impressed judges with their highly capable specifications. These 7.2-tonne chassis cabs host an insulated tipper body with a grab-bucket crane powered by a belt-driven hydraulic pump PTO. Utilising the 7.2t Daily HI-MATIC over larger 7.5t trucks helped ND Brown reduce running costs, while the heavy-duty 160hp diesel engine under the bonnet of the Daily provided plenty of mechanical muscle for the job in hand.

Nominated and supplied by A M Phillip, the winner of the Forestry and Grounds Maintenance category was GMCB Ltd, with its 10 highly adaptable Dailys. Utilising the twin-wheel 35C14 chassis to maximise traction, these 3.5-tonne IVECO’s feature a high-sided dropside body via bodybuilder DPH, and even a snowplough mounting something that judges thought really showed off the vehicle’s wide-ranging abilities.

The Passenger Lifestyle and Transport award was hotly contested, but it was The AA that took the honour. This pair of IVECO Daily 72C18D crew-cabs are a welcome sight for anyone stranded at the roadside. Modern cars are becoming bigger and heavier – especially with the advent of EVs - but with a payload of 3,500kg, these 7.2-tonne vehicles have the capacity to recover most passenger cars without the need for a 7.5-tonne truck, allowing for passenger and vehicle recovery. Their lightweight body was fabricated by Roger Dyson Ltd.

Supplied by Northern Commercials South, Currys and its fleet of IVECO Daily 72C18 won the Delivery category. Their maximised payloads via Manchester-based Alloy Bodies are impressive, while roof-mounted solar panels that work in conjunction with an intelligent auxiliary split charge battery system, were marked out as being exceptional by the judges.

The end of the evening saw the overall Daily Mission Award presented to ND Brown. After collecting the Construction and Utility award earlier in the evening, judges awarded its highly impressive IVECO Dailys the top honour.

IVECO UK Light Business-line Director, Mike Cutts said “The enthusiasm for these awards has been amazing, with our valued customers and hardworking dealers showing great support for the initiative. Our highly respected bodybuilder partners have excelled in creating some of the most diverse vehicles within the LCV segment, with the class of 2022 really impressing the judging panel. The Mission Awards are a great way to celebrate such achievements. A huge thank you to all involved.”

The IVECO Daily has been a staple of the LCV industry for nearly 45-years, with this latest generation enhancing its offering even further. From the introduction of memory foam seating – a class first - market-leading adaptive AIR-PRO suspension, to the highly capable IVECO Driver Pal via Amazon, the Daily is equipped for any mission. Just like its trucks, IVECO offers a responsive Assistance Non-Stop 24/7 roadside support network and commercial workshops that care for both the brand’s heavy trucks and vans. Additionally, Daily operators can also take advantage of an impressive collection of smart and connected IVECO On Repair & Maintenance packages to ensure that each vehicle maximises its TCO potential. Maximum uptime is reached through adaptable service intervals depending on vehicle use, with a connection to IVECOs central control room keeping a watchful eye on running performance. Drivers have the ability to initiate over-the-air updates from the cab, ensuring that systems remain at the cutting-edge, while keeping vehicles out of workshops and on the road.

The IVECO Daily takes on a new mission for 2023 with the launch of an all-electric eDaily. Global media who experienced the vehicle for the first time earlier this year praised it for its impressive 15kW ePTO, wide range of body styles, and 3.5 tonne towing capability.

A special thanks goes to Laura Winter for hosting the event and Simon Alexander for the entertainment. The IVECO Daily Mission Awards will return in 2023.
